How do I use my Dark Oud refill?

Pour the ready-scented Garnet wax pearls into your Emilie vessel or another suitable, stable heat-safe container.

Place a prepared cotton wick into the centre, keeping it safely clear of the base and container walls, then light it. There is no need to melt wax, pour hot wax or mix fragrance yourself.

Once the candle is fully cool, remove the used wax disc, add a fresh wick and enjoy it again.

What does Dark Oud smell like?

Deep, smoky and richly perfumed. Incense and dark rose meet a subtle raspberry sweetness before settling into saffron, rich oud, amberwood and warm benzoin.

We pair Dark Oud exclusively with our Garnet wax colour for this Limited Edition.

How strong will the scent be?

The fragrance is released as the wax around the burning wick warms and melts. The experience can vary depending on room size, airflow, burn time and the number of wicks used.

One wick creates a softer scent experience. Additional evenly spaced wicks create a larger melt area and may make the fragrance more noticeable, but will use the wax more quickly.

What is included?

You receive 1kg of Garnet pearled wax, already scented with Dark Oud, plus 50 individually prepared cotton wicks.

The refill does not include an Emilie vessel or Aura Dish. These are included with selected candle sets or sold separately where available.

How long will one refill last?

One 1kg refill can provide up to 200+ hours of candlelight, depending on the number of wicks used, their exposed length and the duration of each candle session.

One wick helps the wax last longer. Using several evenly spaced wicks creates a larger candle moment but uses the wax more quickly.

We recommend burning for no more than four hours at a time.

Can I use the refill in another container?

Yes, provided the container is stable, heat-safe and wide enough to keep every wick safely away from the base, sides and any decoration.

For a single wick, use a container with an internal width of at least 10cm. Multiple wicks must be spaced evenly and kept safely away from one another and the container walls.

Always place the candle on a stable heat-safe surface, keep it away from children, pets and flammable materials, and never leave a burning candle unattended.

Position one prepared cotton wick in the centre. No melting, hot wax pouring or fragrance mixing.

As the wax around the wick warms and melts, your chosen fragrance begins to fill the room.

Refresh.

Once fully cool, remove the used wax disc, add a fresh wick and enjoy the same scent again.

THE EMILIE FREE WICK SYSTEM

Why your wick never touches the bottom of the jar.

Most candles fix the wick to the base and let it burn wherever that leads. Emilie doesn't. Every wick sits loose in the pearls — clear of the base, clear of the walls. It's the one decision behind almost everything Emilie does differently.

It's why refilling actually works.

Melted wax never bonds to your vessel, so once a session ends, the cooled disc lifts out in one piece. Crumble it back into the pearls, add a fresh wick, and your candle is ready again — no scraping, no soaking.

It's why the flame is designed to go out on its own.

A wick with nothing holding it stays upright only as long as there's wax around it. Once it reaches the end of its usable length, it tips into the melted pool beneath it and the flame is designed to go out.

The pearls are designed to help cover the flame.

Because there's always more solid wax around the flame than melted wax beneath it, we built the mechanics so that if a lit vessel is ever knocked over, the loose pearls fall in and help smother the flame rather than spill fuel towards it.

THE MECHANICS BEHIND EMILIE

A local melt pool forms only around the wick, leaving the rest of the pearls solid and ready to use again.

We won't call this the safest candle in the world — no one should make that promise about an open flame.

We built safety into the mechanics, not just onto a warning label.

Emilie is still a real candle with a real flame. Always burn it on a stable, heat-safe surface, keep it away from children, pets and anything flammable, and never leave it burning unattended.
