We stopped accepting candle problems as normal.
Pick a jar, light it, hope it burns properly. Then the wick smokes, the wax tunnels down the middle while good wax sits untouched at the edges, and the jar gets too hot to hold. When it's finished, all of it — wax, wick, jar — goes in the bin.

THE EMILIE FREE WICK SYSTEM
Why your wick never touches the bottom of the jar.
Most candles fix the wick to the base and let it burn wherever that leads. Emilie doesn't. Every wick sits loose in the pearls — clear of the base, clear of the walls. It's the one decision behind almost everything Emilie does differently.

It's why refilling actually works.
Melted wax never bonds to your vessel, so once a session ends, the cooled disc lifts out in one piece. Crumble it back into the pearls, add a fresh wick, and your candle is ready again — no scraping, no soaking.

It's why the flame is designed to go out on its own.
A wick with nothing holding it stays upright only as long as there's wax around it. Once it reaches the end of its usable length, it tips into the melted pool beneath it and the flame is designed to go out.

The pearls are designed to help cover the flame.
Because there's always more solid wax around the flame than melted wax beneath it, we built the mechanics so that if a lit vessel is ever knocked over, the loose pearls fall in and help smother the flame rather than spill fuel towards it.

A local melt pool forms only around the wick, leaving the rest of the pearls solid and ready to use again.

We built safety into the mechanics, not just onto a warning label.

THE FAMILY BEHIND EMILIE
We created Emilie for the home we wanted our daughter to grow up in.
Emilie began with our daughter, Emilia. We loved the warmth that candles brought into our home, but we were never completely comfortable with the way an ordinary candle burned — a fixed wick, a very hot jar and an open flame that could keep burning until someone noticed it.
We wanted to create candlelight that felt calmer and more considered. A candle we could refill instead of throw away, shape around our own home, and enjoy with greater peace of mind around our daughter and our cat.
That idea became Emilie Pearled Candle. Today, we make or individually prepare every part of the experience by hand in our UK studio — from our pearled wax and cotton wicks to our vessels, decorative pieces and wick dishes.
Emilie was named after Emilia because she is the reason we cared enough to create it properly.

Do I need to melt the wax before using it?
No. Pour the pearls directly into your chosen suitable vessel, insert a cotton wick and light it. There is no melting, pouring hot wax or specialist equipment required.
What is included in the Autumn Ritual Set?
Your set includes 1kg of golden Saffron pearled wax, 50 cotton wicks, a handmade Dune Bowl in Sienna and a handmade Folia Dish in Cashmere. What is the difference between Unscented and Pumpkin Spice?
Both options have the same golden Saffron colour — only the fragrance changes. Saffron Unscented contains no added fragrance and is exclusive to the Autumn Ritual Set. Limited-edition Pumpkin Spice brings a sweet-and-spiced scent with notes of sweet pumpkin, warming cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. Your wax quantity, Sienna Dune Bowl, Cashmere Folia Dish and 50 cotton wicks stay the same whichever you choose.
Can I use the pearls in another container?
Yes, provided the container is stable, heat-safe and offers enough internal width and space around the wick. Always follow the Emilie setup and candle-care guidance.
What happens when a wick is finished?
Allow the melted wax to cool fully. Lift out the cooled wax disc, remove the used wick, crumble or return the usable wax to the pearls and insert a fresh wick.
Is every part really made or prepared by hand?
Yes. Our pearled wax, cotton wicks, vessels, decorative pieces and wick dishes are made by hand in our UK studio.
Is Unscented suitable for homes with pets?
Unscented has no added fragrance, which is why many customers prefer it in homes with pets or fragrance-sensitive family members. It is still a real candle and must always be kept safely away from animals.
How long will 1kg of pearls last?
Your total use will depend on the number of wicks, flame size, session length and setup. The Autumn Ritual Set is designed to provide up to 200+ hours of candlelight when used correctly.
